MBI’s TUFFLON™ coatings encompass a wide range of variations and properties which can accommodate many needs and applications. From flouropolymers to ceramic-infused co-polymers; oven-cured to room temperature options; even FDA and EPA compliant coatings; MBI’s Tufflon can find a way to make your application work better. Most of our Tufflon coatings are complimented with a ceramic or carbide layer which dramatically improves the life of our coatings over conventional applications.
The durability along with release and low coefficient of friction properties make such coatings ideal for use as engineering or maintenance tools, with many processing aid applications in any manufacturing sector or industry. Typical applications include: Release against glue, Ink or any other sticky substance on components, such as chutes, trays, pans, shields, pump parts, valve parts, tools & rolls of all types.
MBI's TUFFLON™ is a great alternative to standard Teflon coatings.
Non-Stick with Built-in High-Lubricity: The extra low friction properties of our Tufflon coatings make them suitable for slickness, even as dry lubricants like on slide valves, cutting blades, conveyors, chutes, etc.
Wear & Corrosion Resistance: Being hybrid type coatings (combining plasma with polymers) makes MBI Tufflon coatings unique to having excellent adhesion, abrasion and corrosion resistance.
Specifications: MBI TUFFLON coatings meet EPA, USDA and FDA 21 CFR 175.300 requirements.
Non-Stick: Excellent release - exhibits < 20 gr/in of release on waterproof tape with subsequent adhesion of 100%
Friction Coefficient: Extra low energy - static coefficient (on cold rolled steel) -0.11 (Dynamic coefficient -0.07)
Low Wear: Excellent abrasion resistance - 1 mil loss after 3000 cycles CS-17 wheel at 1000 gr load (Tabor test)
Adhesion: Excellent (Embedded in to the metal sprayed layer) - Pull-off test > 5000 psi
UV-Resistance: No degradation, cracking, or blistering
Hydrophobicity: Extreme - high contact angles with water
